Settlement Date Set In DWI Crash that Killed Mom, Injured Son

Defendant pleaded "not guilty" earlier.

Chesterfield resident Patrick J. McCormick is nearing a court settlement according to St. Louis County Court records.

An April 27 settlement conference is set, about 10 p.m. on a Friday night along Wildhorse Creek Road in Chesterfield 

Esrock, 50, died two weeks later from injuries, never regaining consciousness. Her 16-year-old son Jonathan Esrock who was a passenger in the car was critically injured.

Police said . McCormick had a cut on his forehead in the police booking photo, taken just hours after the crash.

McCormick, 54, pleaded "not guilty" in December to the manslaughter and assault charges in the August 26 crash. His several times in the case.

Esrock was minutes from home—when McCormick came around the bend.

Esrock is survived by three children, and her husband. She was a math teacher and girls hockey coach at the private Whitfield School in Creve Coeur.

McCormick worked at the time of the crash in building operations at Saint Louis University Medical Center. He has been out on bail.
