Grand Theft Auto—Chesterfield

How'd it happen?

A 1998 Toyota Corolla car stolen from the parking lot at Chesterfield Mall Thursday night was too easy—the car was unlocked and keys were in the ignition.

The car was reported missing by a 57-year-old woman, Mary Rosenthal, who worked at the mall.

Police said the car turned up four days later, April 30, in the City of St. Louis.

While there were some harmless items like paper left behind that didn't belong to Rosenthal, police said, there didn't appear to be any damage to the car.

Police said they were checking for fingerprints on the steering wheel. There were no suspects as of Wednesday, police said.

The owner had the car back as of Wednesday.

The car disappeared sometime between 9:30am and 9:20pm on April 26, police said, from the mall lot.
