History Comes Alive in Faust Park

Families ventured out on a steamy Saturday afternoon to learn about the historic buildings and heritage gardens of Chesterfield's Faust Park.

Stormy skies and high humidity made for a lighter than usual turnout at Saturday afternoon, when the Chesterfield attraction hosted an open house at its historic village of old homes and gardens. Visitors lingered longest at the blacksmith shop, where longtime-volunteer Mike Schmidt demonstrated the tools and techniques of late 19th-century metal working.

The buildings of the historic village were also open on Sunday. Vistors could see interior of the , home to Missouri's second governor Frederick Bates. Reenactors also provided living history interpretation.
