Chesterfield's summer free concert series in kicked off with lots of people, good weather, birthday cake and fireworks—in addition to the usual good music, food and drink.
Officials estimtated a crowd of 3,000-4,000 people.
organizes the concerts and many businesses contribute to its success as sponsors. They said 1,800 pieces of birthday cake were distributed. The Bob Kuban band performed covers of familiar pop tunes.
This year, one of the city's outlet mall developers——took on a sponsorship despite completion of the project being being over a year away.

In an informal polling of concert-goers, many were from around the county: Wildwood, South County, Creve Coeur, Chesterfield.
Included here are photos from the event, primarily before sunset and the 9pm fireworks.
Parking for the concert and fireworks spilled out of the park onto both sides of Olive Boulevard in both directions, and into neighboring subdivisions. Faust Park lots were all full by 7pm when the music began.

Concerts are from 7-9pm on Tuesdays, with the park opening by 5:15pm and the concession opening by 6pm, weather permitting.
June 12 free concert is Heather Dawn Band.

Great article. It was a spectacular kick-off for the Chesterfield summer concert series. The weather was perfect and both the music and the fireworks were wonderful. It was great to meet you and visit with you while you were covering this event.
