KSHE-95 Radio Dumps National Pair, Turns to Chesterfield DJ & Co.

Rock music station describes, in its own words, what changes are taking place on January 17.

KSHE-95 goes all rock in the morning, when legendary St. Louis rock personality John Ulett replaces Bob & Tom on January 17.

An entire generation of St. Louisans went to school or drove to work in the mornings listening to real rock radio on KSHE-95. Starting January 17, they can do it again.

The iconic rock radio station announced that local personality John Ulett will begin hosting an all-Rock morning show from 6-10 a.m. each weekday, starting Tuesday, January 17. He will be joined by KSHE personality Lauren Colvin (aka Lern), who will provide news and traffic reports.

The new local show will replace the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Show.

“KSHE-95 is the longest running rock radio station in America,” said Rick Balis, the station’s vice president of Rock.  “We take that title seriously. Rock music is what we are all about, and this change will enable us to return to our roots.”

“John Ulett is the perfect person to lead this change,” he added. “John has been playing rock on KSHE for 35 years. He understands what St. Louisans want to hear. He appreciates the historic significance of KSHE as a key player in the development of rock music nationally. He and Lern, who were both born and raised in St. Louis, will bring a new sound and a new excitement to morning radio in St. Louis.”

Senior Vice President and General Manager John Beck acknowledged that the change reflects a return to playing real rock 24 hours a day. “We have had a long relationship with Bob & Tom and have a deep respect for them. We thank Bob & Tom for all they have done for KSHE over the years, but we are making a change that takes us back to where we started. We are excited to see what John and Lern can do.”

KSHE 95 started playing “underground rock” in the late 60s and is responsible for starting the careers of many rock bands we know today. See the KSHE virtual museum, the Real Rock Museum, at www.kshe95.com.

KSHE 95 is owned and operated by Emmis Communications, a diversified media company with radio broadcasting and magazine publishing operations. Emmis owns radio stations in Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and Austin. In addition to KSHE 95, its St. Louis stations include KFTK-FM (97.1 FM), K-HITS96 and 105.7 The Point.

WOW! I can't wait to hear the SAME 50 songs over and over and over and over!! Looks like my IPOD will get a little extra work! Why not combine ALL Emmis station and the rotate "talent" every hour. Recycle crap is still crap.

Sad day for me. I have come to thoroughly enjoy my drive time in with various comedic talent. Some great, some not so great. What Bob and Tom is… never playing to the same old tired music over and over again. With the direction of technology, don’t see the viability of music DJ. I can hear that stuff, any time, any place. Now I have very little reason to ever visit KSHE. KSHE trying to save money? If another local station decides to deliver Bob and Tom, they have my attention… and time.

I haven't listened to Kshe since Bob & Tom were cancelled. Now that they are coming to The Brew at 100.3 I know that I will never listen to Kshe again. You guys really blew it with that change.

I grew up on kshe and am still a devoted listener. Their relationships with artists like my man Sammy Hagar and others proves dedication to what I see as a dying breed sadly. I too miss Bob & Tom but have always loved Uman. As far as the Brew? That goes to show Kshe is here to stay. Tuned in there lately? Their format has changed AGAIN! Stay true and keep on rockin! Thanks for a job well done! Kim Ferguson
