Pair Fire Off 'Airsoft' Guns In Chesterfield Neighborhood

Two boys, ages 12 and 14 years old, fired off "Airsoft" guns and their plastic projectiles Saturday on Cedar Mill Drive in Chesterfield, police said Wednesday.

The boys apparently fired on a house in the 1900 block of Cedar Mill about 4 p.m. on Feb. 25, police reported.

A peace disturbance officer handled the complaint, police said.

"Airsoft" is a sport, according to Wikipedia, "in which participants shoot round non-metallic pellets launched via replica firearms."

Wikipedia states that fired pellets striking eyeglasses or sunglasses within 10 feet would shatter the glasses.

The "Airsoft" game is described as similar to paintball—without the paint, in which players hunt and shoot at each other, attempting to eliminate each other from play.

Chesterfield's City Council that outlawed shooting small animals with guns and air guns and other specific weapons that could prove harmful to residents if struck by a stray projectile.

Officials said at the time, the ban would not preclude fathers and kids—for example—shooting BB guns together for fun in their own backyards.
