Police Identify Two Californians Injured In Fatal Crash in Chesterfield

One released from hospital.

Police identified two Californians who were hospitalized after colliding with two other vehicles on Olive Boulevard in Chesterfield Tuesday, killing Missouri Baptist University freshman Clayton Pfeiffer, 18.  

Dale Kawamura, 35, of Oakland CA was hospitalized after the black 2012 Infiniti SUV he was driving apparently crossed the center line into westbound head-on traffic about 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The passenger in the SUV, Steven Hammer, 32, also from Oakland CA, was treated and released from an area hospital, police said Wednesday morning.

The driver of a white 2007 Dodge truck, Jerome Drapp, 46, of St. Louis, was not injured police said, when Kawamura's SUV hit the truck.

However, when Kawamura's SUV hit the silver 1998 Honda Accord Pfeiffer was driving, it proved fatal for Pfeiffer.

Pfeiffer, a South County resident, was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead. He is a 2011 graduate of St. John Vianney High School in Kirkwood and played baseball as an infielder, taking the team to a championship in May 2011. 

Chesterfield police said there was no further information while police reconstruction team investigated, interviewed and conducted follow-up.
