Signs decrying the removal of trees, shrubs and other foliage on a creek bank at Schoettler Road in Chesterfield popped up on Sunday at the side of the road.
On one side of Schoettler Road, the creek banks still have all the foliage, while the other side is barren.

Several handwritten signs lined Schoettler Road facing drivers headed toward Highway 40/64. The signs apparently refer to the drastic clearing around several high voltage towers. They put blame on Ameren for the clearing.
Chesterfield Patch will attempt to contact Ameren Monday about the claims on the signs.
Here's what the signs said:
- AMEREN DID THIS! (with an arrow pointing toward the creek)
- Do you really need to kill any more 3 foot bushes for your 30 foot power lines? GET A CLUE Ameren!! (with a frowny face drawn beneath the two exclamation points)
- Animal and Bird Habitat DESTROYED by AMEREN (an actual empty bird nest was placed under the sign)
The city of for eventual upgrades to it, including potential work on the narrow bridge over the creek in question.
Schoettler Road runs between Clayton Road and Highway 40/64.
Logan College of Chiropractic is located on Schoettler Road, as are many residential subdivisions.
