FOX 2 Celebrity Expected at Dance-Health Seminar

Healthy lifestyle demonstrations Feb. 25 in Clayton, at the Ritz-Carlton.

Chesterfield's St. Luke's Hospital hosts a national Day of Dance For Your Health on February 25 at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Clayton, and Fox2 News' Monica Adams will appear.

St. Luke's is part of a national network of hospitals named Spirit of Women facilities focusing on women's and family health. It is the only member-hospital in the St. Louis area.

The fourth annual Day of Dance with St. Luke's is part of a larger national campaign. The event has grown larger every year, leading to the move to the Ritz-Carlton for more space.

The free event is 8:30 a.m. to noon, and will provide demonstrations on how to dance your way healthy, and screenings for health issues.

Prizes include $100 gift cards and a trip for two to Mexico.

Highlights: 

  • Many fun, heart-healthy dance demonstrations, free health screenings and opportunities to talk with health professionals about easy ways to stay healthy.
  • Win a trip to Mexico and $100 gift cards.
  • Dance demos offer easy, energizing dance organized by Dance St. Louis. The goal is to inspire a lifetime of exercise and other healthy habits. Types: Brazilian Samba, Bollywood (Indian form of dance), Belly Dance, Zumba, Line Dance, Popular Party Dances from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s “Dancing Through the Decades.”
  • Free health screenings such as blood pressure, body mass index, bone density, pulmonary function and other health risk assessments. (Fasting cholesterol and glucose screenings are available for $20.)
  • Talk with doctors in specialties including Orthopedics, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • WomenHeart support group: A new support group for women who’ve had a life-changing heart-related event or have been diagnosed with heart disease. It is a free program where attendees share their unique experiences in a group setting, helping them regain a sense of control, feel less alone, develop a positive outlook on life and find the strength to commit to lifestyle changes. Meetings are the first Wednesday of every month. 
  • Pelvic health program: Works to help women start talking about and seeking help for pelvic health issues such as incontinence and pain, to improve quality of life. 
  • Total Control: Women of all ages experience life-changing benefits, including a stronger pelvic floor, flatter abs, improved bladder control and better sexual health. Seven-week classes start up in March. There’s also a free introductory class in early March so you can see if it’s right for you.
