The rain made for poor attendance at last Saturday's annual pet adoption carnival in Chesterfield.
Tammy Bowes, the general manager of the pet care facility, said that this is the sixth year for the event and that usually the weather is much better. Bowes said that there are usually about 30 pet rescue agencies at the event, and that as many as 100 animals have found new homes.
She wasn't sure how many adoptions resulted from this year's carnival, but tried to see the sunny side of the soggy day. "Everyone out here had smiles on their faces," she said.
