The St. Louis Civic Orchestra continues its 2012-2013 season at 8 pm on Saturday, February 16, at Logan College in Chesterfield with a musical travelogue across Europe.
Composers from Germany, Czechoslovakia, France and Austria are featured on this diverse program, along with young artists showcasing them mastery with solo cello and violin performances.
The Orchestra, under the leadership of Music Director Edward Dolbashian and Concertmaster Paul Huppert, will be performing some of the most heralded works of the Romantic era of symphonic music.

Included on the program are the extraordinary beauty of Franz Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, the triumphant brass of Richard Wagner's Prelude to Der Meistersinger and the flowing melodies of Bedrich Smetana's The Moldau.
In addition, musicians who represent some of the finest young artists in the metropolitan area will join the Orchestra as soloists. Violinist Hannah Hart will perform from Camille Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No. 3, and cellist Grant Riew will perform from the Franz Josef Haydn Cello Concerto in C major.

“This should be a nice of exceptional music of all kinds,” says Orchestra President Larry Levin. “We will be celebrating the rich diversity of European music from the nineteenth century, full of grace, beauty and majesty, and then will be treated to featured performances by the community's outstanding young musical talent.”

The St. Louis Civic Orchestra resides in Chesterfield, Missouri, playing a four concert indoor season at Logan College's Purser Hall, and a free outdoor concert at the City's Central Park Amphitheater. The Orchestra comprises 65 musicians from around the St. Louis metro area who also have a variety of professional occupations along with their musical prowess. The Orchestra receives very generous funding from the City of Chesterfield, Regional Arts Commission and a variety of individual, corporate and foundation sources.
