Chesterfield Firefighters to Don Pink T-Shirts This October

It's the fifth year the fire district has participated in a campaign to benefit local organizations dedicated to battling cancer.

Firefighters with the Monarch Fire Protection District will be swapping out their usual uniform polos this October for something a little more eye-catching - bright pink T-shirts.

It's the fifth year in a row the Monarch crew will be participating in the national effort to raise funds and support for local women battling cancer, according to a press release about the effort.  Monarch fire trucks will also display pink cancer awareness flags throughout October.

Sales of the t-shirts will go toward charities in the area. Last year, Monarch raised more than $6,000 that was donated to the Bridging the Gap Emergency Breast Cancer Fund, Camp Rainbow and No Woman Left Behind. This year's proceeds will go the Life and Hope Fund at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield.
