Council Votes to Merge Two History Commissions

New Chesterfield Historic and Landmarks Preservation Committee begins with jointly-held outlook, enthusiasm and optimism.

At the last city council meeting, the two history commissions, the Chesterfield Historical Commission and the Landmarks Preservation Commission, became one new group.  Now called Chesterfield Historic and Landmarks Preservation Committee, the group has yet to have its members appointed by Mayor Bruce Geiger.  Some will come from the former groups, some will be the several new people who have expressed interest in membership.  Everyone who has been involved in the planning and research is excited and optimistic about the merge.  Any resident interested in being appointed to the CHLPC should contact his councilmember at any time, now or later.  Many projects are being discussed and planned and will come to pass only with as much talent and expertise as is offered by members.  If anyone is unsure of his ward or councilmember, please call City Hall for that information.  All applicants will be welcomed.
