Possible Merge of Chesterfield Historical Commission and Chesterfield Landmarks Preservation Commission

Two history-oriented citizen committees of the city, each with different reasons for being but with like interests, may be merged.

This past Thursday evening the Planning and Public Works Committee of Council discussed a staff report which had been requested by Mayor Bruce Geiger and issued to the committee. The directive called for research into the possibility of the two historical citizen committees merging into a single group. Staff has investigated every possible angle and in this 35-page report recommended a merger.

The committee voted 4-0 in favor of the concept and the report was sent back to staff to iron out details before being returned to the committee with a final report.  It appears that it will mean a more efficient, less cumbersome and less confusing arrangement for all concerned.
