Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs Celebrates 170th Commencement

Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs held its 170th commencement for the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic on Saturday, April 27, 2012.

Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs held its 170th commencement for the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic on Saturday, April 27, 2012 in the William D. Purser, DC Center on the Logan campus in Chesterfield, Mo., a western suburb of St. Louis.  The ceremony, which included the academic hooding of each graduate, honored 72 students with the conferral of the Doctor of Chiropractic degree by Logan President Clay McDonald, DC, MBA, JD.  Twenty-two students received their Masters in Sports Science and Rehabilitation degrees.  Jonathan Emlet, a DC graduate at this commencement, received his Masters in Nutrition and Human Performance degree from Logan University Programs.   The commencement speaker was Dr. Anthony Lisi, director of the chiropractic program for the Veterans Health Administration in Washington, D.C. and section chief for chiropractic service at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.  John Gutweiler, PhD, a professor in Logan’s Basic Science division, served as master of ceremonies. 

Eight Doctor of Chiropractic graduates were recognized with special academic honors.  They included: valedictorian Justin T. Woodrow -- summa cum laude (3.88 GPA or better); Jeffrey K. Binder, John H. Keefe IV and Jinpu Li -- magna cum laude (3.74 GPA or better); and Jonathan Emlet, Eric M. Leitman, Mitchell B. Nielsen and Todd J. Sonquist -- cum laude (3.6 GPA or better).   Jeanne M. Engert Sandheinrich was the recipient of the Dr. Al Chamberlain Student Doctor Award, a $1,000 cash award that is given for clinical excellence to the top student in Logan’s health centers system.  It is presented by the Logan College Alumni Association.

Nine DC graduates were selected for inclusion in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.  They are: Jeffrey K. Binder, Michael T. Gustafson, John H. Keefe IV, Jerry D. Leach, Jr., Eric M. Leitman, Jinpu Li, Mitchell B. Nielsen, Todd J. Sonquist and Justin T. Woodrow.  Five MS graduates also received Honors with Distinction for graduating with a GPA of 3.8 or better.  They are:  Aaron G. Armetta, DC; Justin Baker, DC; Laura M. Buck, DC; Jonathan Emlet; and Ashley L. Herbst.
