'Iron Woman' Fights Cancer, Inspires Others: Just two weeks after competing in an Ironman event (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run), Teri Griege was diagnosed with cancer. She basically said no, she wasn't having any of it. Since her diagnosis, she's worked diligently to maintain a rigorous training schedule. Cancer vs. an Iron Woman.

Local Authors Overcome Challenges to Publish Their Stories: Police officers—and writers—Chris DiGiuseppi and Mike Force, authors of The Light Bringer and The Fallen, faced challenges during their many years in law enforcement. They had no idea they would face a whole new series of obstacles in getting their first book published. Their writing began as a means to work through all of the tragedies they've encountered in law enforcement and in their personal lives.

From High School Dropout to Missouri-Recognized Top Educator: Dr. Debra Peppers was a high-school dropout and troubled youth who overcame the many obstacles in her path to achieve tremendous success as a teacher. She earned a doctorate, induction into the Teacher Hall of Fame, and eventually taught on the masters level. Not only that, she survived three suicide attempts.
