St. Luke's Hospital has been recognized as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association for helping employees achieve good health.

St. Luke’s Hospital has been recognized as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association for helping employees achieve good health. Platinum is the highest level of recognition.

“Physical activity and overall employee wellness are important priorities at St. Luke’s Hospital,” said Janette Taaffe, St. Luke’s Hospital vice president of human resources. “We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to providing the best workplace environment possible. This benefits our employees’ health and helps us further our mission to improve the quality of life for our patients and the community.”

The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is intended to be a catalyst for positive change in the American workforce by recognizing employers who champion the health of their employees. According to the American Heart Association, Platinum-Level employers:

  • Offer employees physical activity options in the workplace
  • Increase healthy eating options at the worksite
  • Promote a wellness culture in the workplace
  • Implement at least nine criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture
  • Demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness

St. Luke’s robust Passport to Wellness program is available to its employees and employers throughout the community. At St. Luke’s, employees have many opportunities to take action for their health with access to free screenings, fitness challenges, on-site fitness centers, indoor and outdoor walking paths and more.
