Parkway Central Goes On Hitting Spree To Take Down MICDS

With an explosive seven runs scored in the first inning, the Colts shook the visiting MICDS Rams, defeating them 14-4 Monday.

After jumping out to a two run lead in the first, the Rams energy quickly succumbed to the Colts offense. Starting pitcher, Brady Feigl contributed in the first inning rally, hitting a two run home run.

“I was shocked at the plate” Feigl said. “It’s good to get that monkey off of your back and start hitting a little bit.”

Zack Lazenby mirrored Feigl with a two run blast of his own in the third inning.

“Mine went farther than Brady’s” Lazenby joked. “I got a good pitch right at the belt, swung my hardest and it went over the fence. I will give the wind some credit though. It helped me a little bit.”

Unusual for most teams, the homeruns came from the hitters near the bottom of the batting order. Feigl fills the seventh spot in the lineup before Lazenby steps up to the plate batting eighth.

“That’s got to be intimidating” Feigl said. “It’s crazy for it to happen. It just shows how deep our lineup is.”

The junior pitcher was in the midst of two contrasting scenarios on the mound. Feigl went into the dugout down two runs and stepped back onto the rubber with a five run lead, a factor that he said improved his performance.

“On the mound I was a little shaky in the first inning. When you can come out the next inning after your team has put up seven runs that’s really helpful as a pitcher. It helped get me to settle down and do what I could do” Feigl said.

The Colts have a quick turnaround ahead of them. They are set to University City to take on the Lions tomorrow afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 4:15.

Connor Kraus is the probable Colts starter for the Suburban South Conference matchup.

“We can’t underestimate anybody. We just have to go out and play as hard as we can” Kraus said.
