Chesterfield Resident Murdered in St. Louis, Suspect Arrested

St. Louis Police arrested a suspect Saturday in connection to the death of Deondre Elem, who was fatally shot in St. Louis Thursday.

Updated 12/16: More details have emerged about the shooting death of Chesterfield resident Deondre Elem. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is now reporting that police believe Elem was killed during a botched robbery Dec. 13. 

The 17-year-old suspect in the case was arrested after police cordoned off the 4800 block of North 20 Street in St. Louis on Dec. 14 and a special operations team executed a search on a home in the area. Inside, police found the suspect and several other individuals, including children, according to the Post-Dispatch.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the suspect is a 17-year-old man who was arrested in the 4800 block of North 20th Street in St. Louis on Friday. Police also said they had recovered the victim's car, a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, nearby.

Deondre Elem, 29, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head early in the evening of Dec. 13 near the 4300 block East Fairfax Court.

Elem lived in the 14000 block of Bantry Lane in Chesterfield. 

More details about the case were unavailable Saturday, but the Post-Dispatch said police were applying for warrants.
