Chesterfield Collision: Driver Runs Red Light, Kaboom!

Stuck in traffic Thursday about 5pm? Here's why.

Police said a car ran a red traffic light and plowed into another car at 5:10pm Thursday, on Olive Boulevard at Swingley Ridge Road, blocking traffic for about 35 minutes during rush hour.

Both drivers had minor injuries and refused treatment from paramedics with Monarch Fire Protection District.

Police gave the red-light offender a summons.

Emergency workers used fire trucks to block two lanes of traffic while they cleared the collision.

The silver car in the photo was northbound on Olive Blvd. and drove through a red light police said, and struck the black car crossing at Swingley Ridge Rd.

The black car subsequently hit the Swingley median, and damaged the flower bed.

Both cars were towed from the scene, police said.

And that's why traffic was backed up on Clarkson Road yesterday at evening rush hour.

Chesterfield resident and former city council candidate David Arbogast captured the photo of the car crash Thursday about 5:20pm.Β Arbogast said he works from an office that overlooks the area.

He sent it to Chesterfield Patch.

Arbogast has spotted newsworthy items over the past year from his perch, and also sent those along to Patch. We appreciate it.
