Chesterfield Coach Guilty In Sex Case with 15-Year-Old Girl, Student

Parkway Central coach took her to Illinois, to his parents' house, police said.

A former coach at Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield entered a guilty plea in federal court Friday to a single count of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Brent Woody, 29, also faces 15 counts of statutory rape in St. Louis County Court. He was 26 at the time.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Woody engaged in a sexual relationship with an underage female student. When she was 15, Woody took her to his parent's house in Illinois with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

School officials said Woody worked for the district 2008-2010 as 9th-grade girls basketball coach, assistant track coach and substitute teacher.

Woody was first indicted by a federal grand jury in January. A grand jury determines whether there is sufficient evidence in a case to charge.

Under federal sentencing guidelines, Woody could face 10 years-to-life in prison, and fines up to $250,000, as well as supervised release for life. Sentencing is set for Jan. 6.

Chesterfield police investigated the case, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Woody was a Creve Coeur resident at the time.

Woody's attorney, Adam Fine, declined comment Friday afternoon.
