Spokesman said firefighter later released.

A house fire on Quiet Creek Court in Chesterfield Tuesday landed one Monarch Fire PD firefighter in the hospital with apparent heat exhaustion, a Monarch spokesman said.

Monarch and Metro West Fire Protection District responded to a call about 5:30 p.m. in the 16400 block of Quiet Creek Court. It's located in a wooded area about midway along Kehr's Mill Road between Clarkson and Wildhorse Creek roads—off Horseshoe Ridge Road.

The firefighter was observed and released from the hospital, a spokesperson said. Air temperatures reached 72 degrees Tuesday afternoon.

The fire appeared to have started on the rear deck of the two-story colonial-style house. The cause was unclear Tuesday night.

Fire Marshal Roger Herin said two teenagers were home at the time of the fire.

"They discovered the fire, gathered their pets, evacuated and called the fire department. Their quick action likely prevented much more extensive damage," Herin said in a written statement.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire on the back of the house, extending into and involving the attic. Crews quickly doused the fire from outside.

However, much of the inside ceiling had to be removed in order to put out the fire in the attic.

"The house suffered extensive water damage throughout, Herin said, even though the fire itself was limited to the siding, rear deck and attic.
