Chesterfield Officer Suffers Minor Injury in I-64 Accident

A Chesterfield Police Officer was hit by an out-of-control driver late Wednesday night.

An accident on I-64 late Wednesday night resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old man for careless and imprudent driving and slight injuries for a Chesterfield police officer. 

The initial crash occurred at around 1 a.m. when a driver struck the back of a trailer near Timberlake Manor Parkway, according to a report from KSDK. A Chesterfield officer then arrived on scene to direct traffic around the disabled vehicle. 

He was sitting in his car with his lights flashing when another vehicle tried to pass between the police cruiser and a median, but struck the patrol car causing minor injuries to the officer.

The officer was transported to a hospital for treatment and the driver, a St. Louis man, was charged with careless and imprudent driving.
