Chesterfield Stepping Up DWI Enforcement in July

The police department will be conducting checkpoints throughout the city all month.

The Chesterfield Police will stepping up DWI enforcement during the month of July with checkpoints throughout the city of Chesterfield. 

Officers will be checking motorists in an effort to reduce the number of intoxicated drivers on streets and highways. 

Those officers participating in the enforcement effort have had additional training in the recognition of motorists who have had too much to drink or are under the influence of illegal drugs. Officers will also issue citations for seat belt and other violations.

In a news release about the checkpoints, Chesterfield Police Chief Ray Johnson said providing a safe community is a priority for the department.

"Removing intoxicated drivers through the use of checkpoints has proven to be an effective method to accomplish this goal," he added.
