St. John Teen Charged in Attack of Chesterfield Student at St. Louis Community College

The suspect being pursued after a female student was attacked inside a women's restroom on the college's campus has been identified and charged, according to the latest report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Update: Police have released the identity of the suspect charged with attacking a female student from Chesterfield inside a women's restroom at St. Louis Community College's Meramec campus. 

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Jevon Mallory, 18, of the 2900 block of Hilleman Avenue in St. John, was charged with assault while on school property. The crime is a felony and Mallory was held in jail on a $10,000 bond.

The Post article states Blythe Grupe, 19, of Chesterfield, was attacked shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday.

She was reportedly inside a restroom in the Communications North building on the Kirkwood campus when a male student came up behind her, grabbed her around her neck and pulled her to the floor.

"He was trying to kill me," Grupe was quoted as saying in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch article. "I just started screaming. I was on the floor asking him to please stop and let go because it hurt."

According to the Post, an instructor heard Grupe's screams, ran into the bathroom which stopped the alleged assault and then called campus police.

The male student was reportedly arrested, but has since been released.
