Driver Jumps Curb, Hits First Watch Restaurant And Parked Car

Police are on the scene at the First Watch restaurant in Chesterfield. According to witnesses on the scene, an elderly man struck the building and another car around 2 p.m., Sunday.

Police are on the scene at the First Watch restaurant in Chesterfield. According to witnesses, an elderly man struck the building and another car around 2 p.m., Sunday.

No one inside the restaurant was injured during the incident and no one was in the parked car that was also reportedly struck by the driver.

The witness Patch spoke with, who is a family member of a Patch editor, said the man seemed to be "OK" after the accident. She said he was out of his car, walking around and talking to police.

According to the witness, the man was reportedly in the side parking lot and backed out of his parking space, when he suddenly accelerated "side swiped the building," knocked over a trash can, jumped two curbs and hit a parked car.

A complete report on the incident was not available Sunday afternoon, but police said the driver of the car was not injured in the accident and that the structural damage to the building was minimal.
