On August 26, 2011, Patrick McCormick, drove his car around a curve on Wildhorse Creek Road in Chesterfield and, according to officials, crossed over the center line and crashed into Janet Esrock's car head-on, critically injuring Esrock, and her teen son Jonathan.
Esrock, 50, died . Her son remained hospitalized for a few more weeks, sustaining injuries that left him several broken bones.
Today, a little more than a year later, McComick is set to appear in court to receive his sentencing.
McCormick plead guilty on June 22 to involuntary manslaughter and assault of second degree. He previously told the courts he was depressed, and no longer working at Saint Louis University Medical Center as director of buildings or grounds.
McCormick has been free from jail since September of 2011, when he paid 10 percent of his $100,000 bond.
