Fed Ex Driver, Neighbor Help Save Elderly Chesterfield Woman

On May 1, Fed Ex driver Matt Rayckovan was dropping off some packages at an apartment complex in Chesterfield when he and resident Tobi Keane witnessed an accident that could have turned into a tragedy.

A 78-year-old woman and apartment resident fell while walking in the parking lot, shattering a glass tray that she was carrying on the ground. Shards from the broken container severely cut her neck and vital carotid artery, causing serious and immediate bleeding.

The pair of witnesses reacted immediately with Rayckovan rushing to her and applying pressure on the wound to help slow the loss of blood. Keane called 911 and then came back with more towels.

Rayckovan and Keane are two of eight individuals that will be honored by the Monarch Fire Protection District at a ceremony Thursday night for going above and beyond in saving the life of another citizen

“If it were not for the quick action of Rayckovan and Keane, the accident could have been fatal,” said Monarch Public Information Officer Ray Antonacci.
