Gun Grabbed From Vehicle in String of Break-Ins

Police are reporting that six vehicles were broken into at several locations in Chesterfield on the night of March 10.

Thieves struck six vehicles last week on a single night in a rash of car break-ins that netted them a firearm but mostly came up empty.

Police reported that the firearm, valued at more than $500, was taken from a vehicle in the 1600 block of Burkhardt Place on March 10. The thief damaged the handle of the door to gain access.

The pistol was properly secured and locked up in a safe inside the vehicle, Police said.

In four of five, the thief or thieves banged-up the door handles but didn't find anything inside the vehicles worth taking. A backpack, books, voice recorder and flash drives were taken from one of the vehicles in the 300 block of THF Boulevard.
