Hundreds Evacuated from Chesterfield Mall Over Water Pressure Issue

The pressure issue in the fire sprinkler system triggered an alarm. The incident was over in about 20 minutes

Hundreds of people poured out of the Chesterfield Mall Friday evening, shortly before 9 p.m., after a high-pressure reading in the water line feeding the mall's fire sprinkler system triggered a fire alarm.

Battalion Chief Sean Porter with the Monarch Fire Protection District said the system behaved as it should and that the high pressure warning "was a typical event." No water lines were broken and there were no reported injuries or serious problems as a result.

The incident was over shortly after 9 p.m.
