Ice Causes Handful of Minor Accidents

The latest winter weather has caused several one-car accidents and calls for assistance in Chesterfield.

Chesterfield Police responded to just under 50 calls for service since 7 p.m. last night when the latest round of winter weather began.Β

There were about 30 accidents in town as of 11 a.m. Thursday. Chesterfield Police Officer Lt. Sheliah Davis said overwhelmingly these were one-car accidents where the vehicle slid on the ice and off the road or into another object.Β

Police also responded to 14 traffic hazard or motorist assist calls, which can be anything from a car stalled to a vehicle stuck on a hill due to ice.

Davis said school closures helped take some traffic off the roads this morning. Both Parkway and Rockwood school districts canceled classes. She said the calls have tapered off this morning. This number of calls is pretty typical, given the weather, she said.Β
