Man Charged with Drunk Driving Assault, Leaving Accident Scene

Events included backing down the I-64 exit ramp for Chesterfield Parkway, running through a fence and striking another car, causing it to roll over.

A man is being charged with several crimes in a string of events that included him backing down an exit ramp back towards Interstate 64.

A Chesterfield Police report gives the following account.

Scott Trittschuh, 36, of Granite City, IL took the exit ramp from westbound Interstate 64 to Chesterfield Parkway on Tuesday when he stopped and began backing up at a high speed. He lost control and went through a fence.

Trittschuh’s car then hit another vehicle, which rolled over injuring the driver. Trittschuh then drove away. A police officer found him in a parking lot at 13275 Olive Blvd. near Interstate 270 in Creve Coeur.

Trittschuh smelled of alcohol and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.106 percent, according to the report. The officer also found a loaded handgun under the car seat.

He is being charged with second-degree assault for driving while intoxicated resulting in an injury, leaving the scene of an accident and unlawful use of a weapon.

Bond was set at $20,000, and Trittschuh posted 10 percent of the bond, $2,000.
