Parkway Students Caught With Pot on School Property

Two Parkway West students have been referred to a juvenile court after they were caught with marijuana on school property.

Chesterfield Police Officer Michael Ryffel said that on March 11, a school staff member smelled something burning in one of the school’s bathroom and “it went from there.” The students, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, were both sent home.

Police said the two teens had a “small amount” of marijuana and the case has been handed over to a juvenile court.

The incident occurred the same day that another high school in Parkway was being searched by a canine drug-sniffing unit from the St. Louis County Police Department. Conducted at Parkway Central, the dogs searched the school’s hallways while students remained in classrooms. No drugs were detected, according to school officials.
