Several Deer Killed Crossing Highway 40 in Chesterfield

The animals had also been seen bumping into buildings in the Chesterfield Commons shopping area before trying to cross the highway. No drivers were injured in the collisions.

Several deer caused some brief chaos in Chesterfield Thursday morning when they tried to cross Highway 40 and were hit and killed by multiple drivers.Β

KMOV reported on the incident yesterday, which started when the small herd of deer appeared in the parking lot of the shopping center containing Kaldi's Coffe House on Chesterfield Airport road. One of the deer allegedly smacked into the window of the coffee shop, although the business wasn't damaged.Β

Chesterfield Police told KMOV that the deer may have bumped into other buildings in the area as well before then sprinting onto Highway 40 near the Boone Bridge.Β
