Shoplifter Scuffles with Police in Chesterfield Mall

A 21-year-old male allegedly caught stealing clothes from Banana Republic pushed down a police officer.

A 21-year-old male is being charged with resisting arrest after he allegedly pushed down a police officer who caught him shoplifting at Chesterfield Mall.Β 

The incident occurred Dec. 7 at around 2:45 p.m. when the suspect was spotted concealing clothing from Banana Republic and then leaving the store without paying.

When he was confronted, police say he pushed the officer down and then fled the mall. Law enforcement caught up with him again in the parking lot.

"Once the other officer caught up with him, he gave up peacefully," said Chesterfield Police Officer Mike Ryffel. "No force had to be used."
