Thief Threatens Walmart Security With Knife

A 23-year-old male is facing possible robbery charges after making threats that he had a knife when he was stopped for shoplifting.

A 23-year-old male who tried to steal spark plugs from the Chesterfield Walmart is facing possible robbery charges after he threatened store security.

When the suspect was confronted, he allegedly told the security personnel that he had a knife. However, he was then taken into custody without incident and no weapon was found.Β

Chesterfield Police Officer Mike Ryffel said even verbal threats can elevate what would normally be a shoplifting or larceny charge to the felony level. The incident occurred Nov. 27 at around 1:30 p.m., according to the Chesterfield police blotter.
