Stolen Vehicle Used to Ram Through Garage Door

A burglar who broke into a Chesterfield home last week used an unusual method to leave.

A burglar who broke into a Chesterfield home last Tuesday stole a vehicle from inside a garage and escaped by ramming it through the garage door.

According to police, the brazen theft took place sometime overnight between June 4 and June 5 at a house in the 600 block of Broadmoor Drive.

The thief managed to pry open the garage door, but police said they weren’t sure how. Once inside, the individual hopped inside a 2012 Toyota Rav4 and instead of opening the garage door, opted to drive right through it.

The garage was damaged extensively and the act created a loud noise that startled the victim, who was home at the time. However, police said they did not immediately investigate what may have caused the commotion.

At this point, police said they do not have any suspects but are treating the crime as a case of residential burglary.
