Car Theft Spree Hits Chesterfield Holiday Weekend

Police reported a car theft and multiple car break-ins at two apartment complexes in Chesterfield over the latest July Fourth weekend, for a total of 15 in one night.

The majority were reported taking place on a Saturday night July 7, at apartments along Schoettler Valley Road, just off Chesterfield Parkway at Highway 40/64.

Twelve crimes were reported at this one complex alone, including a stolen car. Victims' cars were parked outside.

The other targeted complex was near the intersection of Schoettler Road and Clayton Road, with three car break-ins reported. Looks like there was less loot available there, from the report.

Here's the rundown, as provided by Chesterfield police.

Schoettler Valley complex:

1. July 7-9 at 17000 Black Birch Dr.,  Pried lock on victim's car door and took a GPS unit.
2. July 7-8 at 15000 Black Birch Dr., Entered victim's unlocked vehicle and took a GPS unit.
3. July 7-8 at 15000 Black Birch Dr., Someone stole a 37-year-old man's car parked in front of his apartment building.
4. July 8 at 15000 Black Birch Dr., Damaged door lock on one of victim's vehicles took a GPS unit. 
5. July 8 at 15000 Black Birch Dr., Broke a window on another vehicle and took an IPod.
6. July 7-8 at 15000 Ardmore Creek Dr., Damaged victim's vehicle by forcing open door lock.
7. July 7-8 at 15000 Ardmore Creek Dr., Damaged door lock and and took money, sunglasses.
8. July 7-8 at 15000 Ardmore Creek Dr., Broke out windows on another victim's vehicles and took a briefcase, and three place settings.
9. July 7-8 at 15000 Ardmore Creek Dr., Entered victim's unlocked vehicle and took a checkbook.
10. July 8 at 15000 Ardmore Creek Dr. Broke out window on victim's vehicle.
11. July 8 at 15000 Ardmore Creek Dr. Entered victim's locked vehicle and took a flashlight and tools.
12. July 7-8 at 15000 Elk Ridge Lane, Forced open victim's vehicle and took a backpack, calculator, and vehicle owner's manual.

Clayton Road complex:

1. July 6-8 14000 Bantry Lane, Forced lock on victim's vehicle and took clothing, charger cords, books, and passport.
2. July 7-8, 2200 Village Green Parkway 5, Damaged door lock on victim's vehicle.
3. July 7-8, 2200 Village Green Parkway 5 Damaged door lock on victim's vehicle.
