Three Garages Broken Into in Twin Estates Subdivision

In each case, the burglar used a garage door opener left in a vehicle parked in the driveway to gain access.

A burglar took advantage of a combination of unlocked vehicles and garage door opens to break into three homes in Chesterfield last week.

According to reports from the Chesterfield Police Department, the suspect behind the crime is unknown, but the individual hit the residences, all located in the Twin Estates subdivision, on the night of July 12.

In each, case the thief first pilfered a car in the driveway and then used the garage door opener to then go through the garage, with varying degrees of success:

  • 15000 block of Meadowbrook Circle Lane - A radar detector was taken from the vehicle, but nothing was stolen from the garage.
  • 2100 block of Englewood Terrace - Cash was taken from the vehicle and headphones and a pair of sunglasses were stolen from the garage.
  • 15000 block of Meadowbrook Circle Lane - Nothing was taken from the vehicle, but alcohol was nabbed from the garage.
All in all, not much of a haul for the the burglar, but it serves as a good remainder to not leave valuables stashed in your car and to take your garage door opener in with you at night.
