MoDOT Cancels PM I-270 Blast; Traffic Backed up 5 Miles During AM Blast

The next blasting and closure of I-270 is Wednesday 10 a.m.

The  canceled the 1:30 p.m. rock blasting on I-270 that was scheduled for Tuesday. The works shuts down north and southbound I-270 between Manchester and Big Bend roads.

The next blast and I-270 closure is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m. 

MoDOT is blasting away rock in order to add another lane on both sides of I-270.

At about 11 a.m., eastbound traffic on Highway 40/64 was backed up all the way to Chesterfield from the I-270 interchange—that's about five miles. And traffic was standing still.

MoDOT sent out a news alert Tuesday, after the first blasting and closure. Crews are evaluating Tuesday morning's closure and will make any necessary adjustments for upcoming blasting times.
