Boone Bridge Rock Blasting to Impact Traffic Tuesday

MoDOT is warning drivers to expect traffic to stop on Highway 40 around 2 p.m. Tuesday for rock blasting near the Daniel Boone Bridge.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to expect delays on Highway 40 around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

MoDOT said in a news release, Highway 40 traffic will be slowed and potentially stopped for five to 10 minutes so rock blasting can take place, as long as the weather permits the blasting.

Eastbound Highway 40 traffic will be impacted beginning at the Route 94 interchange, while westbound traffic will be stopped at the Boone’s Crossing exit.

Missouri Research Park and Chesterfield Airport Road ramps will also be closed briefly during Tuesday's blasting.

"Only one more blast will occur after Tuesday’s. It will be either Friday or early next week, weather depending," MoDOT stated in the release.

It's all part of the department's reconstruction work on the span of bridge.

"The blasting work is necessary to build the new shared use path from the end of the new eastbound bridge down to connect to the KATY Trail in St Charles County," the news release stated.

The new eastbound bridge is set to be opened to traffic in late 2014.
