Chesterfield Friendship Village to Expand Into Neighborhood

A resident pleaded for some relief.

Friendship Village of West County is apparently so popular in Chesterfield that the senior living community just keeps on expanding.

Friendship Village, at 15201 Olive Blvd., came before the Chesterfield Planning Commision this week in order to add another 100 residences—up to 400 units, add more commercial vendors onsite, and change landscaping requirements.

The expansion is at the front left of Friendship Village, next to the Braefield development, if looking at the site from Olive Boulevard.

Potential outside vendors would include: dining, bank, food, drug, hair styling, laundry, printed reading material, card shop, and others. No outside signs allowed.

The Village has a total of about 35 acres.

One resident whose property abuts the Village, said two neighboring properties sold to Friendship, but that he wanted buffering from the proposed parking lots and four-story building. Dave Brange said he hired a lawyer to deal with Chesterfield and Friendship over the expansion and planning.

At the most recent city meeting, Brange said a fence was promised, as well as shrubbery—but that he would still refer the issues to his attorney, until he was satisfied.

Several years ago, Friendship built more housing nearly up to the border of the County's Faust Park, separated by Arrowhead Estates Lane.

The facility overall is for those 62 and older. Residents have said the food is good at Friendship.
