The park was private property until barely two year ago, when Eberwein decendents of the property owner agreed to sell to the City. Two houses on the property were demolished and a red barn propped up and used in part for park storage.

It's located on a corner across from Monarch Firehouse No. 1 along Baxter, Highcroft and Old Baxter roads. Other portions of the park back up to Dierbergs Market Place and a cluster of seven tiny properties with large homes.

Yearly fees to the dog park section are $30, beginning January 1. It's payable online and in-person at City Hall. The dog wears a tag showing membership.
