City Council Preview: Changes to Dangerous Animals Ordinance

A run-down of some highlights for tonight's city council meeting.

The Chesterfield City Counil will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at Chesterfield City Hall. Patch has provided highlights of some of the items on the agenda, which can be viewed online.
The city council will consider:

  • The first reading of amendent to the city's ordinance relating to dangerous animals. The amendemnt removes breed-specific language as it is often misleading and confusing given the changes in breeds.
  • The first reading of several ordinances that have received approval from the city's zoning commission. They include a request by Stages St. Louis to change the zoning for a building recently purchased by the theater company to accomodate its new use as a performing arts and educational facility.
  • The first reading of ordinance that would extend an amendement set to expire this year allowing the display of directional signs for open houses on Saturdays. The request was first made by the Home Builders Association of Eastern St. Louis and Missouri, who cited a still-struggling real estate market as the reason, in 2009 and has been re-approved annually since then.
