Updated Sept. 13 with corrected information on the City Council's vote. Changes in bold.
The Chesterfield City Council voted favorably on a first reading of a bill adjusting speed limits for several portions of Highway 340 (also known as Clarkson Road or Olive Boulevard depending on the area), during their Sept. 5 council meeting.
A second reading is due at the City Council's next meeting on Sept. 19.
The new speed limits come after a Missouri Department of Transportation speed study which recommended a 45 mph posted speed limit on portions of Highway 340 within the City limits of Chesterfield.
The recommended speed limits are as follows:
- Clarkson Road from Kehrs Mill Road to Interstate 64: 45 mph.
- Olive Boulevard from Interstate 64 to N Woods Mill Road: 45 mph.
- Olive Boulevard from N Woods Mill Road to the City limits of Creve Coeur: 40 mph.
