UPDATED: City Council to Vote on Speed Limit Changes for Clarkson Road

The new speed limits come after recommendation from MoDOT.

Updated Sept. 13 with corrected information on the City Council's vote. Changes in bold. 

The Chesterfield City Council voted favorably on a first reading of a bill adjusting speed limits for several portions of Highway 340 (also known as Clarkson Road or Olive Boulevard depending on the area), during their Sept. 5 council meeting.

A second reading is due at the City Council's next meeting on Sept. 19.

 The new speed limits come after a Missouri Department of Transportation speed study which recommended a 45 mph posted speed limit on portions of Highway 340 within the City limits of Chesterfield.

The recommended speed limits are as follows:

  • Clarkson Road from Kehrs Mill Road to Interstate 64: 45 mph.
  • Olive Boulevard from Interstate 64 to N Woods Mill Road: 45 mph.
  • Olive Boulevard from N Woods Mill Road to the City limits of Creve Coeur:  40 mph.
