Fix-Up at Athletic Fields Pushed Ahead by Warm Weather

Chesterfield staff was working Friday out at Chesterfield Valley Athletic Center, mowing lawns, painting and putting finishing touches on upkeep started in February.

The CVAC also has a new parcel of property undergoing preparation for use as ball fields, on the east end of the campus.

Earlier this year, staff was tearing down old and building new dugouts for some of the fields. Chesterfield and materials. The old ones were grey cinderblock, the new ones are multi-colored.

Officials said the city was fertilizing and mowing fields earlier this year—likely similar to residents' lawns—because of the extraordinarily warm weather.

Some teams have already started playing at CVAC. By July, the athletic fields are typically overflowing with games and parked cars, from early morning until 10 p.m.
