Kinder, Smith and Doell Elected to Rockwood School Board

Six candidates vied for three seats on the board.

Incumbent Stephen Smith will be joined by Keith Kinder and Matt Doell on the Rockwood School District Board of Education.

Six candidates competed for three three-year terms on the board. Kinder and Doell will replace current board members Darla Baker and Kim McGuiness, who did not run for re-election.

Kinder, of Ballwin, received 7,068 votes, or 24.41 percent.  is an assistant professor at Maryville University who was a high school principal in the Rockwood district. He previously told Patch he wanted to give back to the district where he worked for 17 years.

Doell, of Eureka, received 5,761, or 19.89 percent.  is an electrical engineer who said he would bring a background of corporate management, labor relations, community service and conservative financial planning to the board.

Smith, of Eureka, received 5,095 votes, or 17.59 percent.  has served on the board since 2010, and from 1989-1995. He said he would like to continue to strengthen collaboration on the board.
