MoDOT Skips I-270 Rock Blasting for Holiday Travel; Highway Open

No lanes closed for work on Interstate 270 South, Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.

The  will not  Tuesday afternoon or all day Wednesday.

According to a MoDOT news release Monday, the brief cancellation is due the Indepenence Day holiday.

Blasting and the approximately 15-minute lane closures are expected to resume Thursday. They take place in both directions of I-270 from Interstate 44 to Manchester Road. The road closes at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each weekday, to blast rock south of Dougherty Ferry Road.

MoDOT urges drivers to use alternate routes and adjust travel times during the lane closures.

"Motorists should avoid I-270 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays if possible," MoDOT previously stated in a news release.

MoDOT has also increased signage around the work zones in an effort to make motorists more aware of the interstate closures and traffic delays.

The closures are then set to continue weekdays throughout the summer.
