Republican Candidate Condemns Opponent On Ex-Gov's Sentencing

By Ed Martin

Republican candidate for state attorney general Ed Martin released this statement Monday, regarding the sentencing of former Missouri Gov. Roger Wilson Monday to two years probabation for a role in funneling funds to the Democratic party, after he was out of office.

“It is a win for the cause of honest government when a former governor, Roger Wilson, is found owning up to breaking the law and taking his medicine.

"His taking of responsibility after being caught is much unlike the conduct of liberal Attorney General Chris Koster, who lawyered up and hid behind a deadlocked Missouri Ethics Commission in a complaint of funneling campaign funds.

"Cleaning up state government will take a sustained effort by new leadership.  I will go to work for better government on Day One. Koster has proven many times that he is part of the sleaze in the Capitol, and is part of government for politicians, instead of government for the people,” Martin said in a written statement emailed to Chesterfield Patch.
