Third GOP Candidate Wants MO Congress Seat

Barnes-Jewish ER doc looks for support in GOP primary race.

The field of candidates in the GOP primary race for Missouri's newly-redrawn second U.S. Congressional District may be set to grow.

Randy Jotte, a one time Webster Groves City Council member, who most recently ran unsuccessfully for the Missouri General Assembly and St. Louis County Council, has launched a website and other campaign apparatus to consider a bid for Congress—aiming at U.S. Rep. Todd Akin's seat.

Akin has announced his bid for the U.S. Senate, leaving the race wide open for the U.S. House of Representatives.

The news that Jotte was interested in Congress was first reported Monday by PoliticMo and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Jotte's website says he is a 1978 graduate of De Smet High School, and is currently an emergency room doctor at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Former Republican National Committee Co-Chair Ann Wagner and local Attorney Ed Martin are already in the race to succeed Akin.

PoliticMO reports Jotte plans to attend an upcoming candidate forum featuring Wagner and Martin before deciding to enter the contest.
